Terms of service

Terms of service, in plain language

The agreement between you and us when you use AttendBeacon. We have kept it short and clear. If something here is unclear, write to us and we will improve it.

In short

AttendBeacon is event management software, made and run by Power Pete. Events where every ticket is free are always free, every other event is free up to 1,000 participants, and above that you buy a one-off licence of €1,000 per event, excluding VAT. You run your events: you decide what you ask, sell and send, and you are the controller of your attendees' data, which we process for you in the EU and use for nothing else. Use AttendBeacon lawfully and fairly, keep your sign-in and API keys safe, and stop whenever you like.

Version 1.0 · In force from 16 October 2026

These terms are published in eleven languages. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version applies.

Who provides AttendBeacon

AttendBeacon is made and run by Power Pete (“we” or “us”). These terms are the agreement between us and you: the organisation or the person that uses AttendBeacon to run events. By creating a workspace, signing in to one or using the API, you accept them. If you do so for an organisation, you confirm that you may. You can reach us at the address under Contact, at the end of this page.

What AttendBeacon is

AttendBeacon is software for running events, at attendbeacon.com. It has three parts:

  • The workspace, where organisers and their teams build and run events: registration and tickets, the programme, check-in, sponsors, crew, messages, reports and integrations
  • The attendee app, on the web and as an app for iPhone and Android, where attendees find their ticket, the programme and the event's information
  • The API, webhooks and the MCP server, through which your own software and AI assistants work with your events

Attendees don't need an account with us. Their ticket is an agreement with the organiser of the event, under the organiser's own conditions.

Accounts and workspaces

Organisers sign in with their Microsoft work account, or with Google or GitHub. Events live in a workspace. Its admins decide who joins the team and in which role, and are responsible for what their team does there. Who can do what: roles and permissions

Keep your sign-in and your API keys safe. Give each integration its own key, with only the scopes it needs, and revoke a key you no longer use or that may have leaked. If you think somebody is using your workspace without permission, tell us straight away. What is done with your account or your keys counts as done by you, unless it happened through a failure on our side.

Prices and payment

The prices are the ones on the pricing page:

  • Events where every ticket is free are free, whatever their size
  • Every other event is free up to 1,000 participants
  • Above that, you buy a one-off licence of €1,000 per event, excluding VAT, with everything included: no fee per registrant, no add-ons and no subscription
  • Donations are voluntary. A donation gets a receipt, not a VAT invoice
  • Your payment provider's fees, from Mollie or Stripe, are between you and that provider. Ticket money goes to your own account: we never hold it and take no cut

You buy a licence under Billing in the workspace and pay with Mollie; the invoice is emailed to the workspace's admins. How participants are counted, what happens at 1,000 and how VAT is charged are explained on the pricing page, which is part of these terms. If we change our prices, the change applies only to licences bought afterwards. Pricing, and the details in plain words

Your role as organiser

For your attendees' personal data, you are the controller and AttendBeacon is the processor. We keep and process that data on your behalf, only to run AttendBeacon for you, use it for nothing else and sell it to nobody. A data processing agreement is available on request at the address under Contact. What is stored, where, and who helps us: the privacy page

You are responsible for your events, and in particular for:

  • Their content, and what you ask attendees and why
  • Your tickets and prices, the VAT on them, and your refunds and cancellations
  • Your communication with attendees, including your own privacy notice
  • Having your attendees' consent before you send them to a mailing list or a CRM for marketing, and a lawful basis for every other integration you switch on

Acceptable use

Use AttendBeacon lawfully and fairly. In particular, do not:

  • Run unlawful events, or publish content that is unlawful or infringes somebody else's rights
  • Send spam: email only people who can expect your message, also through your own sender domain and when you sync to a mailing list
  • Try to get around security, reach another workspace's data, or test our security without our written permission
  • Scrape the event pages or the attendee app, or overload the platform
  • Exceed the API's rate limits or get around them, for example by spreading calls over many keys (The API's rate limits)

If you find a security problem, tell us at the address under Contact and give us time to fix it before you tell anybody else.

Other companies' services

You sell tickets through your own Mollie or Stripe account, and you can connect other services: a CRM, your bookkeeping, Eventbrite or Ticket Tailor, Mailchimp or Brevo, Google, Airtable, Teams, Slack and more. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms, between you and their provider. We are not responsible for their availability, for changes they make, or for what they do with the data you send them. If a service changes or stops, our integration with it may change or stop too.

Availability and changes

We do our best to keep AttendBeacon available, fast and safe, and to fix problems quickly. We cannot promise that it will never be interrupted, and free use comes with no uptime guarantee.

AttendBeacon keeps developing, so its features change: we add them, improve them and sometimes remove them. We announce material changes under What's new in the workspace. For the API, the promise in the developer documentation applies: fields are added, never removed or renamed, and a change that would break existing integrations comes as a new version, announced six months ahead.

Your data

Your data is kept in Microsoft Azure data centres in the EU: the app and the database in Sweden Central, in Sweden, and uploads, keys and logs in West Europe, in the Netherlands.

You can export your data whenever you like: attendee lists and reports as files, and your events' data through the API. Attendees can delete their own data at any time with Delete my data in the event app.

Invoices and credit notes are kept as long as tax law requires: seven years in the Netherlands. That goes for our invoices to you, and for the invoices to your attendees while their event exists, even after an attendee deletes their data.

Your content and ours

What you put into AttendBeacon stays yours: your events, texts, images, files and attendees' data. You give us permission to store, copy, show and send it only as far as needed to run AttendBeacon for you, for example to show your event's public page and send your emails. AttendBeacon itself, its software, design and name, stays ours: you may use it, not copy or resell it.

Only put in what you may use. In particular, the share kit's cards may show a speaker's photo and name only when that speaker has agreed to it.

Liability

Our total liability towards you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €100, whichever is higher. For free use, that is €100.

We are not liable for indirect damage, such as lost profit or revenue, missed sales or damage to your reputation.

None of this limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited, such as for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, or a consumer's rights under mandatory law.

Suspension and ending

You can stop at any time, without notice: stop using AttendBeacon, or delete your events or your whole workspace.

We may suspend an event, a sender domain, an API key or your workspace, or end your use of AttendBeacon, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to prevent harm to attendees, other users or the platform. Unless it is urgent, we warn you first and give you a reasonable chance to put it right. If we end your use for any reason other than a serious breach, we give you reasonable time to export your data.

When an event or a workspace is deleted, its data is deleted with it, including the invoices to its attendees: export what you want to keep first, and keep your own copy of your invoices as your tax rules require. What we must keep by law, such as our invoices to you, stays for as long as the law requires.

Governing law and courts

Dutch law applies to these terms and to the use of AttendBeacon. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection that the mandatory law of your own country gives you, including the right to go to your own court.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when AttendBeacon or the law changes. We tell organisers about material changes in advance, by email or in the workspace, and announce them under What's new. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using AttendBeacon before it takes effect. The version and the date it took effect are at the top of this page.
